July

July 21 - Aboiteau Wharf
Another great evening paddle – good weather, good friends.  Nine paddlers showed up for a little 12km paddle.

July 28 Buctouche Dunes - from Little Buctouche River
While it was misting rain in Moncton, it was beautiful in Buctouche.  Eleven showed up for tonight’s paddle, including two play boats.  Three hours, and 13.3km later, we made it back to the starting point after a great paddle.  The wind blew for less than an hour, but inside the dunes, in the Bay the water stayed calm.  Kilby invited all over to her place, a short distance away, for a BBQ.  Great finish to a great evening paddle.

July 31 - Hopewell Rocks

Just for your information, this is the first time since November 2001 that we've had two full moons in a single month - enjoy the Blue Moon!

Eight of us showed up for today's little paddle.  We didn't go far, 4.3km, the area covering The Rocks is rather small, little less than 1km, but we had fun.  I was hoping for calm weather, but it was a little rough.  Waves were running about 2-feet, with an occasional 3-footer.  Winds varied, but not bad for the most part.  Playing amongst the Rocks, going through tunnels and around the stacks, it was fun, and we played for about 1 3/4 hours.  I managed to catch a nice smooth wave and was able to have a great surf - probably about 6 or 7 seconds - my GPS recorded a maximum speed of 13kph.  (Totally manual (and waterproof) camera problems - apologies for the quality)
It was a tad rough - check out the bottom of the boat on the left, and the swimmer
